The service when working is ok and has no lag depending on which service you connect with. But nothing to get excited about. I'm confused by those who have been 10 years with them.
The windows client on the other hand is heinous. I was for over 6 months denied access to the client as the update informed me my version of Windows 10 was not supported. I had connected customer support various times and they kept telling me to roll back a version. Eventually, there was an update but nobody informed me it was out. I had been unable to use the service for months.
Additionally, the default DNS service can reject your DNS requests. I've had times where even when disconnected from the VPN I've been unable to use the internet altogether because their DNS service won't respond. Additionally the windows client often will revert from my choice of using my ISP's DNS when disconnected to back to witopia DNS and then refuse to connect to any of my networking services. I've had to remove the client various times from various Windows machines and flag this bug. Unfortunately I have a multi-year subscription that I cannot end, I pray for the day for the subscription to be over.
I've used them in Mexico for almost 10 years now. I know the computer support world and they go the distance, they are truly exceptional. I have no problem with US Netflix or Amazon, they have a kill switch now, and I have one account that runs on 3 devices. They've been around the block, they have experience and competence, they've been loyal to me and I'm not leaving anytime soon. If your connections are dropping it most likely has to do with your provider throttling your connections.
I've been using Witopia for about 6 years and have found it to be excellent. I won't say it has been faultless, but any issue that has arisen has been rectified by Witopia's brilliant help desk team. I've never waited more than a few minutes for it's chat service to respond. The VPN slows my connection a little and takes a while for my laptop to boot with it running but again, this is a minor issue and I'd imagine all VPNs would have this effect. I love being able to log on to the Net from almost anywhere in the world - I log into UK servers regularly but have logged into many other servers around the globe just to see how different their respective services are. I would recommend Witopia based on my experience.
